CCM Line of Duty Death Benefit

Working to protect communities sometimes means putting yourself in harm’s way—and for that we’re grateful. Which is why we offer a complimentary, one-time benefit canceling the remainder of the home loan amount for fallen law enforcement officers, firefighters, and other first responders. It’s a way to support and thank families and survivors for making the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving the communities they love.
What is the Line of Duty Death Benefit?
The Line of Duty Death Benefit is an exclusive loan program for those serving as federal, state, county, or municipal agency law enforcement officers. It provides a sense of security in a time of need for surviving family members. When a spouse/partner passes away, mortgage payments may become harder to make.
At CCM, we strongly support those who protect and serve. And to honor them for making the ultimate sacrifice, CCM agrees to cancel the combined balances of the borrower’s loan(s) up to $525,000. It’s our way of saying thank you.
The Line of Duty Death Benefit covers any work-related activities involving external force and violence, as well as heart attack or stroke that may occur during training or any other stressful event. The benefit is for all first responders, whether you are a borrower or co-borrower, and the officer must be 70 years of age or younger at the time of loan inception. This is not an insurance policy, but rather a debt protection program.
See the FAQs for further program requirements.
Who can take advantage of the Line of Duty Death Benefit?
The Line of Duty Death Benefit is available and offered at no additional cost to those serving as law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs, or paramedics, including volunteers. It’s a cancellation of the remaining mortgage debt, up to a combined $525,000, offering protection for families of first responders. This ensures that loved ones are shielded from the burden of their mortgage should the unexpected occur.
How to access these benefits
There is no additional cost to the borrower for the Line of Duty Death Benefit. Additionally, there is no health exam needed to qualify. You only need to sign an additional document at closing. Contact your CrossCountry Mortgage loan officer to sign up for this debt waiver agreement.
